Title: Chemistry is the Science of Value Creation.
Speaker: Prof. Ryoji Noyori(Nagoya University, Japan)
Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (2001)
Time: March 20, 2026 (Fri.) 14:10–16:00
◆Speaker Introduction◆
Professor Ryoji Noyori of Nagoya University is a world-renowned chemist recognized for his pioneering work in asymmetric catalysis. In 2001, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, together with William S. Knowles and K. Barry Sharpless, for their work on chirally catalyzed hydrogenation reactions, which revolutionized the synthesis of chiral molecules and had a profound impact on modern pharmaceutical chemistry.
Beyond his Nobel-winning research, Professor Noyori has been a strong advocate of green chemistry, promoting efficient and sustainable synthetic methodologies. He previously served as President of RIKEN (2003–2015) and currently serves as President of the Japan Academy, continuing to inspire scientists worldwide through his leadership and vision.
